whatsinaname Whats in a name

Hello my little bundle of joy,

I promise not to be one of those insane moms that gives you a crappy name. You’re going to have a strong name that has high statistics for strong success in the business place… and at the same time, have names I feel you can embrace.

We’re thinking Julius Dior or Jade Annabelle….

It’s interesting. We ran into a woman named Almedra from Argentina who managed a jewelry-headshop and when we saw jade pendants underneath the glass counter, I told her I was pregnant and was considering the name Jade. She immediately said, “In my country, all that means is that you’re a rock. It doesn’t mean anything good. I was taken aback. So far everyone I’ve told the name “Jade Annabelle” to has loved it and embraced it… especially since you’re a beautiful combination of two very different heritages. Even if you ARE named after a stone, what a great thing to be named after! Rocks have been around for millions of years — far longer than humans have been, which means you’ll have a personal association to the earth and the ground. Stones have been known to have magical properties to heal the body physically and emotionally, and people throughout the world rely on them in times of need. Besides, jade isnt JUST a stone, my dear. It’s an *ornamental* stone which implies beauty and life. Who doesn’t like Guatemala?

And if you’re a Julius, you’re in luck, my love. There are so many *greats* with the name Julius. Julius Caesar who had lots of power (and he married Cleopatra, so maybe subconsciously you’ll find a hot lady you love). I’m Italian-American, so this name would share some of my heritage with you. And many emperors were named Julius. Julius can be shortened to Jules… and in Spanish, it’s Julio. And if you’re not a big fan of Julius (who doesn’t like Jules?? Ladies dig it)… you can always go by Dior. And as you may soon realize, lots of women recognize that name which implies excellent taste!

So anyway, we won’t name you Sunkist, Seattle, Boston, Sprite, Rumi, Buddha, or Traz.

Love
Mommy
