Mommy’s getting dreads!

blondedreads Mommys getting dreads!

Dear sweet child of mine,

For several years, I’ve wanted to get dreadlocks and have been growing my hair out so they’ll look presentable. Now the time has come when I can get some done! The last few days, I’ve been online hunting photos of women with blonde dreadlocks to see how it might look on me and this is so exciting! The woman in the photo above (her name is Annie Butterfly) is absolutely stunning with her dreads and I’m going to show this photo to the loctician that does my hair. I’m currently talking to two women who have both offered to dread my hair (without wax), so it won’t be much longer! This is so very exciting for me :)

There’s something very earthy and loving about dreads that I’ve liked since I was a little girl. I suppose California is still inside me :)

I also saw some photos of a few small children between the ages of 3-8 who all had dreadlocks and my eyes got all big and happy :) I wonder if you’ll want them someday! I can do them for you if you want, all you have to do is ask! Just remember to care and clean them so they always smell good. It’s very easy, it just takes a lot of time to lock up.

Love
Mommy

Will you embrace vegetarianism?

vegwrap Will you embrace vegetarianism?

Dear free-spirited fetus,

Today daddy and I talked about our eating choices and how to share with you our thoughts about it. We’re both vegetarian (and often times, vegan) which means we don’t eat anything with eyes. It led to quite an interesting topic that, I’ll be honest, most of the world are avid meat-eaters - so we’re in the minority.

What’s going to happen if we raise you to be a vegetarian and then you go to school one day and the cafeteria tempts you with meat?

This topic may get heavy, but if you want, read on!

An imagined conversation

forest An imagined conversation

Dear beating heart,

I wonder how the conversation will go when you ask me, “Where did I come from?” It’s been one of those questions that even I still ask to this day. Funny thing is, I know very few people willing to actually have that philosophical debate, yet it’s one of my favorite topics to talk about. One of these day, I’m going to take a walk with you into a lush, green forest and try to explain where plants come from, where the ground, the earth comes from. I read a lot of books and study a little bit of this and a bit of that… so sometimes I’m convinced if you ask me how our planet was formed, I might be able to tell you some of the main theories out there… but I must admit, I’m not prepared for those moments of confusion that may arise when I tell you that simply, at one point, the universe used to be… nothing.

16 weeks today!

Posted under Blog by admin on Sunday 1 March 2009 at 12:47 pm

Hello little one,
This morning I woke up and felt my womb/uterus (still under my belly button), and today IT WAS HARD! Of all the times I’ve touched it, it’s never turned hard! But today it did! That means you’re GROWING BABY! By the way, those (2) Flintstones Vitamins really helped a LOT with the morning sickness. I still get sick, but not NEARLY as much. Way better than the regular prenatal vitamins, yet have the same stuff in it.

Wanna see how big you’re getting? Read on!
